I think this first set of indictments is an attempt to put to the screws the real culprit in the crime of revealing a covert CIA operative. I think he is calling the WH bluff and looking to create an environment where someone will start talking and cooperate and then we will get to who actually committed the crime of disclosing classified information.

Of course, as this entry is titled, "Speculation!!!" that is all that I'm doing. YMMV

It got quiet on LJ after a flurry of activity, so I am assuming that everyone is glued to the Special Prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, press conference at the Department of Justice.

I like this guy. He seems very fair, honest and bi-partisan. I expect Democrats to call him a Repugnant and Republicans to claim he's a witch-hunting Liberal.

We are in the home stretch for Plamegate

Fitzgerald has requested indictments of the Federal Grand Jury for I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and Karl "The Brain" Rove for perjury and obstruction of justice. In addition Fitzgerald is also asking for a second indictment for "Scooter" Libby for knowingly outing a CIA operative. More at The Raw Story.

Have you ever heard of gangsters called "Scooter" or "The Brain"? *shakes head* The Republican version of "The Godfather"! I would say that Cheney is The Godfather, so does that make Bush, Fredo or Sonny?

UPDATE: The Raw Story link posted is only speculation at this moment based on anonymous sources close to the investigation. So, this is all unknown and everyone is on pens and needles, but it is the best we have to chew on for the moment.
